Mayor Sciarra Appoints Kim Park as Senior Services Director

NORTHAMPTON – Today, Mayor Gina-Louise Sciarra announced that she has appointed Kim Park, a respected former Assistant Director of the Northampton Senior Center, to serve as the city’s new Senior Services Director. If confirmed, Ms. Park will fill the Director position that has been vacant since former Director Marie Westburg resigned this past spring.

“I am deeply impressed by the skills and qualifications Kim Park brings to this position,” shared Mayor Gina-Louise Sciarra. “These, combined with her previous successful tenure with the city and direct experience working with Northampton’s older adult constituencies, makes me confident that Kim is the right person to restart full operations at the Senior Center.”

Northampton Senior Services is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for Northampton’s older adults. The Northampton Senior Center offers extensive programming for Northampton seniors and older adults in the surrounding communities.

“I’m excited to restore a strong feeling of community to the Senior Center as we continue our climb out of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Kim Park, “I look forward to welcoming all of Northampton’s older adults back to the center with compelling programs in a warm and friendly environment.”

Kim Park brings 16 years of experience working with older adults to the Director position. Most recently she worked for The Overlook retirement community as the Director of Resident Lifestyle and Volunteer Programming. Prior to that, she worked at Mercy LIFE PACE, a program of all-inclusive care for the older adults providing coordinated interdisciplinary care and services
designed to support older adults living at home.

Mayor Sciarra will submit her appointment to the City Council for confirmation in accordance with the Northampton Charter, Article 2, § 2-10, and it will appear on the agenda for the City Council meeting on July 14, 2022, for a required committee referral. Ms. Park will start at the Senior Services Department on July 25, 2022, and await final confirmation by the Council.
