The Department of Health and Human Services Launches the Share the Warmth Drive
NORTHAMPTON - As temperatures drop and winter weather sets in, the City of Northampton’s Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is stepping up to ensure that everyone in our community has access to the resources they need to stay safe and warm. DHHS is kicking off the Share the Warmth Drive, an initiative to provide critical supplies to our most vulnerable neighbors, including individuals experiencing homelessness, families in need, and those facing financial hardships. Donations are being accepted now through December 20th, at the locations listed below. Any donations after December 20th can be dropped off at the Division of Community Care at 1 Roundhouse Plaza.
“Winter can be a challenging time for many in our community, especially as we have seen a growing number of people in need over the last few years,” said DHHS Health Commissioner, Merridith O’Leary. “Inflation and rising rent costs have led to increasing cases of homelessness and have made it harder for families and individuals to make ends meet. Through the Share the Warmth Drive, we’re working together to meet urgent needs and ensure no one is left out in the cold. Your support can make a real difference.”
How You Can Help: The supply drive will collect and distribute essential cold-weather items such as:
Warm coats, hats, gloves, and scarves (new or gently used)

Thermal socks and thermal undergarments

Sleeping bags and blankets

Tents and waterproof tarps

Personal hygiene products
Drop-Off Locations: Donations can be dropped off at the following locations:
Municipal Building, 212 Main Street

Forbes Library, 20 West Street

Northampton Fire/Rescue Department, 26 Carlon Drive

Northampton Police Station, 29 Center Street

Senior Center, 67 Conz Street

Division of Community Care, 1 Roundhouse Plaza, 1st floor

Thorne’s Marketplace, 150 Main Street

As the temperatures drop, many in our community face an urgent need for warmth and shelter. The Share the Warmth Drive is a chance for Northampton residents and employees to come together and support our neighbors. Your donations help ensure everyone has the essentials to stay safe and warm during the cold winter months.
All donations will be distributed through shelters, community centers, faith-based organizations, or direct outreach programs, ensuring they reach those who need them most.
